The ancient Priory Church of Lanville in the Charante dates from the 12th century and has a turbulent history. On this day of mixed weather and fleeting heavy showers it looked particularly dramatic although waiting for a day of appropriate weather I missed the field of wheat which got harvested. I didn't realise this far south they harvest in the summer and not late autumn like in Scotland!
